Semicircle Design Co is an Oakland California based design firm founded in 2022 by Anna May specializing in interior design, home organization and furniture design. When designing your home we will take your family and your lifestyle into account in every finish we choose and furniture and decor piece we select. Every member of your household, and how you live in your home will inform the choices we make. We live by the adage that form follows function and we will show you that practical can be beautiful. Anna, Semicircle's founder has relationships with local artists, designers and makers as well as a wide view of the market place enabling her to pull from myriad sources to create customized collections for clients. Organizing
As humans in modern society, we often put organization on the back burner because it doesn't feel essential. An organized closet doesn't make your kids dinner or drive them to school in the morning. Many people put off organizing because they have so many other things to do every single day. This deferred maintenance can be overwhelming. Semicircle Design Co can help. We will come to your space, evaluate your needs in person and design custom solutions for you. The goal of organizing is to create systems that are beautiful, practical and realistic for your lifestyle that you can stick with. Having an organized space will free you to spend time on the things and people that matter to you.
Furniture Design
Anna designs each piece in her line with a goal to create a collection that is beautiful, sturdy, withstands the test of time and is safe in homes with children and pets. Everything in the collection is handmade from natural materials in Semicircle’s own workshop or by domestic small-scale fabricators. Stewardship of the natural world and high quality craftsmanship are at the core of Semicircle's ethos. Anna's designs are characterized by an unyielding attention to detail and a careful consideration for function as well as form. Because Semicircle uses natural materials such as wood, metal and leather, the furniture will develop a patina over time and become even more beautiful with age.
After earning a BA in political science from Lewis and Clark College, Anna attended California College of Arts for industrial design and furniture design. She has been working in the furniture industry for over 10 years. A Bay Area native, Anna returned to Oakland after living on the east coast and founded Semicircle Design Co to represent her personal aesthetic. Anna's experience in interior design, merchandising and furniture design informs the products she chooses to bring to Semicircle.
